About
A quiet reference for families.
A working reference of funeral directors across Aotearoa New Zealand, alongside plain-spoken editorial guides on costs, prepaid funeral schemes, and the practical decisions that follow a death in the family.
Editorial scope
The directory covers funeral directors operating across the North and South Islands, with regional pages for each main centre. Editorial guides explain the legal framework families navigate after a death — the Burial and Cremation Act 1964, coronial process, prepaid funeral schemes regulated under the Funeral Trusts Act, and the Work and Income funeral grant.
Listing standards
To be listed, a director must hold current Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ) membership or equivalent professional standing, maintain a genuine local presence at the addresses given, and have no unresolved complaints on the public record. Within each region, directors are listed alphabetically. Listings are reviewed against FDANZ membership rolls and rotated as the field changes.
Editorial team
Editorial team based in Aotearoa New Zealand. The directory carries no advertising and takes no referral fees from the directors listed; any future sponsored editorial would be tagged inline and disclosed on this page in advance.
